Our nation’s first RV national park is a place of beauty and wonderment that is absolutely a “must-see” when it comes to exploring nature. Gorgeous pools, springs, geysers, and wildlife are fabulous sights to behold that will likely take your breath away.
Yellowstone has a total of 12 campgrounds and every one of them permits RVs. Make your reservation as far ahead as possible at Madison, Bridge Bay, Grant Village, Canyon, and Fishing Bridge since the sites get booked quickly. Without a reservation, you can try the other seven other campgrounds to search for an open spot. If you want a campground with full hookups, Fishing Bridge is your only option.
Yosemite National Park is full of breathtaking granite domes, roaring waterfalls, enormous trees, and effervescent waterways and lakes. Your family can rent bicycles and/or an inflatable raft to sail down the Merced River. Travelers enjoy swimming in the pool at Curry Village or Yosemite Valley Lodge during the summer and have fun ice skating under Half Dome and skiing at Badger Pass Ski Area in winter. North Pines, Lower Pines, Upper Pines, Wawona, Bridalveil Creek, Hodgdon Meadow, Crane Flat, Tuolumne Meadows, and White Wolf welcome RVs. Book your site well in advance. There are no hookups at Yosemite’s campgrounds.
You’ll find balmy rainforests, spectacular lakes, mountain peaks drizzled with snow, and captivating beaches. Beach 4, Hole in the Wall beach, and Sol Duc Hot Springs are popular landmarks. Exploring Lake Crescent by renting a canoe is also magnificent. The Black Ball Ferry in Port Angeles is a great way to explore the city of Victoria, Canada.
Olympic National Park has ten campgrounds that accommodate RVs. Sites at Sol Duc or Kalaloch must be booked beforehand and the others are on a first-come-first-serve basis. Hookups are offered at Sol Duc Hot Springs RV & Campground and Log Cabin RV & Campground.
The tallest sand dune in North America is located at Great Sand Dunes National Park. You can rent sand sleds to glide down the dunes or romp in the seasonal Medano Creek. Since there is only one campground, book your reservation well in advance. The Oasis Campground is nearby if you would like hookups and/or are unable to secure a reservation at Great Sand Dunes.
You are able to take a guided tour of one of the lengthiest and most intricate caves in existence at this national park. Wind Cave only has one campground called Elk Mountain. This campground accommodates RVs on a first-come-first-serve basis. Other RV parks can be found close by for travelers who are interested in hookups and/or could not get a spot.
